In 2021, the CMCCP pre- and post-training surveys were updated to shorten the surveys, align the content more closely with the curriculum, and update the demographics questions to be more culturally sensitive. Some of the revisions made based on feedback received from partners and child care professionals includes:

  1. Expanded the definition of healthy foods to include milk substitutes
  2. Included snacks to be more inclusive of centers that do not provide meals
  3. Clarified that participants should answer the questions through a child care professional lens because classroom teachers often responded to questions not applicable to their professional role, thus skewing the data.
  4. Deleted "fresh" from the statement about fruits and vegetables
  5. Moved demographics questions after the behavioral questions in the pre-training survey

Additionally, the survey protocol has been updated to incorporate CMCCP module trainings. Here is guidance about which survey tools to use during CMCCP courses and module trainings.

  • When providing the full CMCCP course or at least 6 hours of modules, the CMCCP pre- and post- trainings should be used.
  • When providing individual CMCCP modules, Cooking Matters requires partners to collect demographics information. Implementation Partners can use the pre- and post-training surveys if local funders or licensing agencies require additional behavioral data.
    • If the CMCCP module trainings are being marketed and offered as one-time drop-ins, distribute and collect demographics information at the beginning of each session assuming that most of your participants are one-time attendees. If there are a small number of repeat attendees, please encourage them to fill out the demographics information each time.
    • If CMCCP module trainings are being marketed and offered as a series in which participants are expected to attend each training, distribute and collect demographics at the FIRST session in the series.
    • Attached are PDFs of the demographics questions in English and in Spanish. Responses to these questions will need to be entered manually in Salesforce.
    • Please review Using Google Forms to collect demographic data for Cooking Matters for Child Care Professionals (CMCCP) trainings for assistance with the data collection process.
    • PDFs for all surveys are available in the National Resource Center.
  • Salesforce reports: You’ll see that Salesforce report templates have been updated to match the new surveys. You may need to run 2 reports if the data you are interested in covers trainings through December 2021 and trainings beginning January 2022.
    1. 2022 CMCCP National Program Sessions: I use this report to see what trainings are closed and what is coming up in the schedule.
    2. 2022 CMCCP E-Survey Pre-Post: This report pulls behavior change data. You will use this report when you are pulling demographics data. The new behavior change report tool will be formatted to assist with gathering EARS data.
